New Years Resolutions

Written over 30,000 feet above Washington D.C.

Today marks the first day of 2012. How exciting! I am fairly confident that I have never really made or kept a New Year’s Resolution before so this year I am setting some seriously outrageous goals in hopes that going extreme will motivate me to actually get them done. Here they are in no particular order.

1. Read more. My goal is to read 12 books this year. One per month. I usually read 1-2 a year so this is a serious behavior change for me.

2. Eat healthy and lose weight. My goal is to lose 30 pounds. Along with the weight loss, I want some muscle definition but I’m not quite sure how to measure that one.

***Correction***

Doctor says loosing 30 pounds isn’t healthy for me, so 17 pounds is the new goal.

3. Pay off debt. My goal is to eliminate my student loan debts. They have hung over my head for several years already and I hate that I brought that kind of weight into my marriage, so I am going to pay-off that debt this year.

4. Start a business. My goal is to build a shop on Etsy.com to sell handmade crafts and the like. I want to use this blog as a place to display my work as well. I’m excited to see how this turns out. Once I develop a business plan, I will set some more specific goals for this business.

All of these goals will stretch me as none of them seem realistic for me. But that’s what excites me the most. I will feel so accomplished when I meet these New Year’s goals.

Happy New Year!
